The quality of cheese is significantly influenced by its care and handling during the maturing process. This is usually very time-consuming and often involves regular turning of the cheese wheels. While this is still done by hand by smaller producers, industrial production requires a more efficient solution in order to ensure cost-effective production.

BINDER developed a fully automatic cheese turner for a large Bavarian dairy company. This picks up an empty pallet and holds it in position using pneumatic clamps. The unit, including the chain conveyor and the clamped pallet, then rotates 180 degrees.

In the second step, a loaded pallet moves into the unit. The empty pallet on top is lowered onto the load using the clamps. The unit then rotates 180 degrees back to its starting position. The pallet that is now on top is lifted off the load using the clamps, and the turned load with the associated pallet can move out.

The turner was a completely new development that significantly simplifies the production process and offers the customer a real competitive advantage by saving resources.
